Following news of the tragedy in Burmah, The Rotary Club of Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI) has dispatched a number of emergency Shelter Boxes and Aquaboxes to the area.

Towcester Rotary Club has approved funding of £1,980 for the purchase of two Shelter Boxes and four Aquaboxes to replenish emergency stocks.

Each Shelter Box can provide accommodation for a family of ten people and an AQUABOX can help deliver up to 33,000 litres of clean drinking water.

The Rotary Club of Towcester will be taking to the streets to raise funds to support the work of ShelterBox and AquaBox.

They were among the first organisations to successfully deliver aid to those in need in Burma, as featured in the BBC news.

Your support will be greatly appreciated. All of the funds raised by Rotary will go to those in need.

UPDATE: ShelterBox will also be supporting the aid efforts in China.

The sun came out and so did the crowds for the Towcester May Day Fayre organised by the Rotary Club of Towcester on Bank Holiday Monday. “The weather was glorious and we were told by stallholders and visitors alike that the event was a great success” said Steve Howe, Club President.

The Duck Race, an annual event now incorporated into the May Day Fayre, was a total sell-out with every one of the 1,700 tickets sold.

The adults’ Duck Race was won by Richard Jones. Alex Hendry from Towcester took the prize for the children’s race. The picture shows Alex collecting his prize from Steve Howe, at the Towcester store of Waitrose, who sponsored the race.
