Rotary Young Musician Competition local heat

On Sunday January 21st, some very talented young musicians met at Towcester Primary school to compete in the Rotary Young Musician Competition 2018 (the local Towcester heat).

There was a fabulous range of skills displayed on the day with pianists, flutists, trombonists, cornet players, singers and violin players.

The adjudicators this year were Lincoln Noel (pianist and teacher), Heidi Carascon (Vocal Coach) and Milena Kavrakova (Cellist), who were all very impressed by the standard of playing and the talent shown at such a young age.

The winner of the Junior Solo Vocal was Isla Booth and the winner of the Junior Solo Instrument was William Tollervey (Trombone). Both of these students will be going forward to the Rotary Young Musician District finals on March 4th 2018 along with Hayley Diamond – in the Intermediate Solo Vocal category and Matt Nikel –  in the Senior Solo Vocal category.

On the day, the adjudicators awarded the overall winners Trophy to William Tollervey, not only for his excellence in playing the trombone, but also his professional presentation and presence on stage.
