Rotary Club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto:
SERVICE ABOVE SELF
The Rotary Club of Towcester was established in 1981 and since that time it has raised many thousands of pounds from its fundraising efforts. We provide VIP drivers and helpers every year to help operate the heliport hospitality shuttle service at the Silverstone Circuit during the British Grand Prix weekend.
Not every event is as grand and complex as this, some are more down to earth, like raising money through Santa’s Sleigh and selling tickets to the Last Night of The Proms. But they all have one thing in common: they help us to raise funds so that we can help where help is needed.
More than two thirds of the money raised goes to local causes. Financial support has been provided for local playgroups and youth organisations. We help fund sports equipment and day trips for local junior schools in and around the Towcester area. We sponsor competitions and initiatives for young people at our local secondary schools. We provide activity days for handicapped people and young carers – and we organise entertaining events for our senior citizens. More details of what we do can be found here.
