The Rotary Club of Towcester was delighted to welcome Mike Jackson – Welfare Officer of the Northampton Branch of the British Polio Fellowship at their club meeting last week.
The British Polio Fellowship is a charity dedicated to helping, supporting and empowering over 120,000 people in the UK who are living with the late effects of Polio – known as Post Polio Syndrome. Mike himself was stuck down with Polio at the age of 2 and is now living with PPS.
The Northampton Branch of the BPF meets monthly in Wellingborough and as well as providing practical help and advice, it also organises social functions. Mike and his colleagues are aware that there are approximately 100 people in Northamptonshire with PPS. They are always keen to identify other suffers who may benefit from the BPF so if you are a sufferer yourself or know of someone who would benefit from involvement in the Northampton branch of the British Polio Fellowship, then please do make contact with :
Mike Jackson – 01604 831 747 – email: email@example.com or Peter Mains 01604 756936.
There are also opportunities to volunteer.
October 24th 2018 was World Polio Day – more information here.
