Shelter and Aqua Boxes
With a donation of £590
Shelter boxes provide tented shelter, sleeping bags, cooking equipment and a few basic items for a group of ten people. Everything is high quality and if necessary will last for years.
The Rotary Club of Towcester has regularly funded Boxes for use in disaster situations.
TACLOBAN (2014)
The Club has entered into a partnership agreement with the Rotary Club of Melton Mowbray to fund the rebuilding of 3 classrooms in Tacloban.
Sierra Leone
Three members of the Club took part in the Rotary Challenge to build an extension to the Fistula Clinic in Freetown. During the challenge individual Clubs raised the money and took part in the supervision and building of the extension. The clinic is now the Aberdeen Women’s Centre and provides a wide range of medical and support services for women in the Freetown area though originally it was a Mercy Ships project.
The Rotary Club of Towcester funded a new kitchen in Kenya.
TRADE AID BOX
The Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven, District 1070 is helping individuals, families, and business to become self-sufficient with the aid of custom-made Trade Aid Boxes. Each box contains specially selected supplies needed to provide people with a head start in recovering from a disaster, or other adversity, or to start working for themselves for the first time. Current boxes are tailored individually to the following trades:
- Builders
- Carpenter
- Blacksmith
- Tailor Seamstress
- Mechanics
- Teachers.
A Trade Aid Box can be assembled to serve the needs of virtually any vital community role.
The Club regularly supports this project by providing flat irons sourced from sales, auctions and private
individuals.
