Rotary Young Photographer Competition 2018 – local heat

The Rotary Club of Towcester will be holding its annual Young Photographer Competition in February 2018. The student’s entries will be displayed in the Library in Towcester from February 12th both before judging and after.

The theme this year is “A Different Perspective” and anyone living in and around Towcester is invited to enter.

The age group is Junior 7 – 10 year olds (age being as at August 31st 2017)

This competition aims to encourage young people to experiment with photography, to show their interpretation of the given theme and to express their ideas through the medium of photography.

They will be judged on:

Technical merit

Imaginative interpretation of the theme

Three individual prints must be submitted for the Towcester heat – no bigger than A4. Each print must be accompanied by a brief sentence explaining how the photograph relates to the theme. Photos can be either colour or black & white and the use of mobile phones as cameras is permitted.

Winners will receive a prize from the Rotary Club of Towcester and will be entered into the District Competition which is in April 2018 with the Award Ceremony in June 2018 at DeMontfort University.

Winners of the District Young Photographer Competition (which will be judged on April 2018) will be entered into the National Rotary Young Photographer Competition. For this, the winning photographs will need to be submitted as a digital jpeg – so please bear this in mind when taking your photographs.
