The Rotary Club of Towcester has a busy schedule of social events – which are not only great for friendship and fun, but also a valuable way for us to raise funds for the charities that we support. Below some of our most recent events:
Halloween Dinner October 2016
Boat Trip July 2016
On Thursday July 28th, the Rotary Club of Towcester spent a very pleasant evening taking a boat trip from Gayton Marina to the Wharf at Bugbrooke where dinner was liad on – followed y a return trip to the Marina.
The weather was perfect until a storm half way through! and dinner was good at the Wharf.
Charter Night May 2016
On Thursday May 19th the Rotary Club of Towcester celebrated it’s charter night with an evening of fine food and entertainment at the Boat Inn at Stoke Bruerne.
Nearly 50 in number, our guests enjoyed a Medieval themed meal of root vegetable soup followed by Venison Pie and fruit syllabub.
After dinner, entertainment was provided by the Paulerspury Players who presented a Medieval betrothal complete with bawdy jokes, musical ditties and some traditional dancing.
The Charter night is in fact the birthday of the club, but as well as that date it also celebrates and re-enforces the importance of friendship and fun being part of the Rotary story whilst serving the Community.
Trip to the Houses of Parliament December 4th 2015
We were delighted to have received some passes from our local MP Andrea Leadsom to visit the Houses of Parliament – so on December 4th a group of us took the train to London to have a fabulous tour of this historic building and institute, followed by a delicious steak dinner in Soho afterwards. Wonderful day out.
Joint Carol Service with Brackley Rotary Club – December 3rd 2015
We had a Carol Service at St Martins’ church in Brackley followed by a delicious meal at the Green Room. An enjouyable evening for both our Rotarians and our guests.
Guest Night October 29th 2016
We had a fabulous evening, a good meal at the Saracen’s Head – we were able to present cheques to two local swimmers who we are helping to fund. Sarah Branch lives in Silverstone and attends the Royal Latin School in Buckingham. Rosie Foden lives in Towcester and attends Sponne Secondary School. We had an amazing talk by Jon Cook of So Few Do.
Pub Sports competition with the Rotary Club of St Neots -October 2015
On Tuesday October 6th 2015, many of our club members went to The Green Man pub in Leighton Bromswold for an evening of Pub Games, playing against members of the Rotary Club of St Neots. Dominoes, Skittles, Darts and Cribbage had us all laughing, competing and counting up! with the final score being in favour of the Rotary Club of Towcester!!
Private tour of the Water Museum at Stoke Bruerne – September 2015
On September 24th, onf of our Rotarians, Bob Carter who is a volunteer at the Water Museum in Stoke Bruerne gave our club members a private tour of the Museum whihc was really interesting.
We then followed this with a fabulous Indian meal at the Spice of Bruerne.
President’s BBQ at Hooten’s Farm – August 2015
At the end of August, we all met at Hooten’s Farm and had a fabulous trip around this location on the back of a tractor followed by a delicious BBQ – and the weather even stayed fine for us!

Visit to the Peak District – May 2015
Three members of the Club and their partners spent the weekend of the 15th, 16th, 17th May in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. The weather though a touch cool was dry and in the main sunny. The scenery was superb and the food copious. It was a really good weekend including the Tissington Well Dressings.
