Towcester Primary Schools join Rotary’s Rota Kids Club

Rotary International is comprised of a “family” of organisations.  There are the Rotary Clubs, the Rotaract Clubs for 18-30 year olds, the Interact Clubs for 12-18 year olds and Rota Kids Schools for 7-12 year olds.

Rota Kids started in the UK a few years ago and although there are many thousands of Primary Schools in the land there are less than 200 Rota Kids schools signed up and the two Towcester Primary Schools are the newest in that exclusive club.

Nicholas Hawksmoor School was awarded their Certificate of Charter on the 10th of March and Towcester Primary on the 17th of March.

As Rota Kids they adhere to the underlying principles of Rotary International which also fit neatly into the Citizenship aspect of the School curriculum: “To endeavour to be fair to all, to serve my community and to show respect for others”.

As Rota Kids they believe that peace, achievement, friendship and fun go hand-in-hand.

Rotarians from Towcester Rotary Club will meet with the School Councils (pupils elected by their peers) once a term to advise and support them in promoting and undertaking any projects (which are determined by the pupils themselves) and ad hoc support when it is requested.

We are delighted that our two local Primary Schools have achieved this distinction and look forward to working with them on a much more formal and regular basis than in previous years.
